It is both shocking and enthralling to know that veteran actor Anupam Kher has been roped in a movie to play former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The film, 'The Accidental Prime Minister', will be based on the famous memoir written by Singh’s media adviser Sanjaya Baru. The book created a storm when it was released in 2014, a little before the general elections in which Congress lost badly to BJP.

Interestingly, critically acclaimed and National award-winning director Hansal Mehta is writing screenplay of this ambitious project. Debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte will be directing the flick, which is going to be produced by Sunil Bohra. The producer is so confident about this flick that he has claimed that this political drama will be bigger than Richard Attenborough's legendary Academy award-winning film, ‘Gandhi’.

Anupam Kher seems excited to be cast as the lead. He shared to ET, “Acting the role of anyone in contemporary history is extremely challenging, as comparisons are bound to be instant and inevitable. But as I have always revelled in challenges, right from my first film Saaransh, I look forward to the experience of portraying PM Manmohan Singh.” Today, Kher unveiled the first look poster of the film on his Twitter page. He captioned the post, “To reinvent yourself as an actor is to challenge yourself. Looking forward to portraying #DrManmohanSingh in #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister.:)”

We are sure that this news will surely raise the anticipation of B-town lovers. Let’s wait together.
